Howdy! Welcome to the message board!
This can be used for corresponding...
...continuing a debate/discussion about points of theology (all subject to Fr. Crenshaw's correction and reproof)...
... a place to encourage and lift up one another...
...a chance to share stupid jokes that don't work on your spouse anymore...
... and much, much more!

Now you start a topic and go to town typing...if there is any issue ,thought, event, or anything that might be interesting to other members of this board, primarily St. Francis, then start a Topic and post a message with your ideas or concerns. Then see what others post to the topic by was of feedback, or possibly someone will enter another idea or new information you did not have before....that's all there is to it. Ther are a million ways this can be made useful to our parish, we just need to define some primary uses, that's all. ---------- ~KLHP

Katherine...maybe I didn't see it; it would be very helpful to me to have the pics that are in the members handbook on the website. I tend to spend a good deal of time online and not remembering where my members book is. Is that something you could add to the site?
Thanks! Danielle

Yes, the directory pics with names would be good to help my poor ole brain.
We have the yahoogroups email list as well which is good when you need information to be received more quickly. Personally I find that messages coming to my email has a better chance of me receiving it in a timely fashion. I usually don't go to the website everyday.
For anyone who wants to be on that list too, the way to sign up is the either let me know at jarofstars@aol.com, or you can go to stfrancisrec-subscribe@yahoogroups.com to subscribe.
On the yahoo loop we can also upload pics from events.. personal family pics..make data bases with birthdays and anniversaries, and a base with contact info for everyone.
That way when you have a prayer need for example you can post to everyone immediately. Just a thought.

One other thought, on the yahoo St. Francis loop we have already started the pics and stuff.. and the data base with info..so if anyone wants to join and add their info in, or just add their info if they are already members that would be great too.

Kathy I know you aren't on the St. Francis email loop yet.. so I wanted to let you know that I submitted the St. Francis info to two Woodlands websites that had church listings.
That might funnel some traffic our way as well.

I have already posted this to the email list members.. but thought I would post here as well. For those who are interested in organic food. There is a regular farmer's market, right now every other week (until they get enough regular orders to do every week) with the next market being June 7th on Old Frasier Rd. in Conroe. That's going to be about 15-20 minutes from I-45 adjacent to our church location, depending on your speed of course ;-).
If you are interested write to eatright@texas.net, Will Boytim. He can set you up to receive order forms and contact information. You can also obtain goat milk, homemade bread, some herbs, etc.

I do remember the call to join the Yahoo group, and yes there is a lot of benefit to incorporating that into our web of sites. I just applied for membership, await approval, and will be adding a link to it from the Member's section of the St. Francis home page.
There is, however, still a benefit to using this message forum. Visitors can view these submissions, and it can give them an insight to what some of our thoughts and interests are, how we interact with each other, and so forth. The Yahoo Group is truly member's only, both to view and submit. Also the content of messages here assist the website in overall word (think "keyword")and phrase concentration - which is good for ranking with search engines.
So, to sum up, I think there is a place for both, but there is no sense in the two overlapping in purpose. Maybe we can come up with some ideas of how this message forum can differ from the Yahoo Group forum.

Katherine,
Good points.. I am thinking that maybe if the public is going to be able to view this message board (that means they would have to register first though right? and I am not sure how many visitors will do that, but am certainly curious to see) the the types of things folks might be interested in, would of course be our iron sharpening iron on things theological perhaps, and maybe things concerning how our beliefs and faith can actually operate and affect our lives in day to day issues that affect everyone.
Maybe the yahoo loop can be for the more personal issues of prayer requests, family goings on,.. pictures beyond our membership pics, the data base with birthdays, anniversaries etc. might be better on the Yahoo site since it is private. I agree with you that both venues can have a place and work in our in lives, and we sure do want to keep this site as high in the search engines as we can.
Thanks for the work you've done on all of this.
