"I Confess! Understanding the 39 Articles of Religion"
Continuing Article 17: Of Predestination and Election
Last week apparently led to some interesting discussions post-class, so we will continue to explore this fascinating subject. This week, we will look and see how Free Will fits into the concept of predesstination.
Discussion will center on Matthew 21:27-32
Verses discussed last week:
Q: Matthew 24:22-24 and John 15:16 – Does it sound like Christians are pre-chosen people?
Q: 2 Peter 1:10-11 – Do we still have to work our Christian “muscles”?
Q: Romans 9:11-18 – Is God’s right to choose unfair or unjust?
Q: Ephesians 2:1-5 – Can we know who is predestined for God and who is not?
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:29-31)
