Debugging the DaVinci Code

With the recent release of the movie, there is much discussion in the air about the presumed "facts" presented in the DaVinci Code that help  Author Dan Brown weave a story that depicts Christ's ministry as being something of a farce. The information his book (and now movie) presents can be very misleading to people who are not well-versed in the truth of the original documents of the apostles and early Fathers. The heretics who wrote counter representations of Christ's life, known as the gnostic "gospels" were written a few centuries after Christ to falsely present a different Jesus -- because, even back then (believe it or not), the message of Christ was not always palatable to everyone -- just as it is not today.

(Hilarious but very revealing parody of The Da Vinci Code in the vein of C. S. Lewis' Screwtape Letters: "My Dear Wormwood":

Uncle Screwtape Congratulates The Da Vinci Code (mp3, 17 minutes).

The first book displayed here, The DaVinci Code:Fact or Fiction, is written for laypeople by two Christian scholars who demonstrate how unscholarly Dan Brown's work, The Da Vinci Code, really is. It is full of many secular historical errors regarding the emperor Constantine and so-called secret organizations, and does not have a clue about the history of the Church, how the New Testament arose, or what the early fathers claimed regarding the deity of Christ. The DaVinci Code is obviously an attempt to rewrite the Christian faith according to Brown's vivid imagination. This is nothing new, but has been going on for almost 1900 years. However, the work displayed above is easy reading, can be read in one sitting, and thoroughly refutes Brown's misleading errors with time honored scholarly documentation. Paperback and only 80 pages. Very inexpensive and the book to give to your friends who may be asking questions.

This second book, Breaking the DaVinci Code, is more for scholars, though still easy reading for all, and leaves no stone unturned in demonstrating from original sources how The Da Vinci Code misleads people, making huge conclusions from virtually no evidence and making false accusations against the integrity of the early Church. Hardback and only 190 pages. You can purchase either book from Christian Book Distributors, 800-CHRISTIAN. Must reading!
